Introduction
This book will be different from other books or blog posts you will read on Medium or elsewhere on this topic. It is also not another take on paraphrasing Deep Work by Cal Newport, though I use many principles described in his fantastic book that I recommend reading regardless.
My book is less about “how to” and more about “how I.”
I began getting interested in the deep work/focus topic long before this term became popular. As someone who embraced remote work more than a decade ago, I spent years practicing, iterating, and perfecting the process of reaching the focus state and staying in it for as long as possible.

In early 2022, I had a pivotal moment in my career. After spending a decade in the tech industry, launching various startups, and working with dozens of clients building websites and apps for them, I became a writer covering finance and investing topics.
Out of all creative jobs, writing, perhaps, is the one that requires the maximum focus. More than ever in my career, I needed a system – a set of habits and routines to follow every working day to stay focused and productive.
As a result, the Deep Work Hustle system was born. The system you will learn about in this book helps me get more work done in less time without losing the quality of the work while staying physically and mentally healthy.
Following this productivity system, I managed to land a client that now earns me $5k+ net per month while I work no more than 6 hours per day and have a life outside my cubicle.
But don't get under the impression that my work requires no mental exertion. I don't put some requests into ChatGPT and then paraphrase the sentences in QuillBot {affiliate link}. In contrast, my work requires all attention in the world and a lot of mental effort (and other skills specific to the job itself).
I do in-depth research on various public companies and then write deep-dive writeups on these companies (no less than 8,000 words of unique content).
And I am good at what I do. Almost 40,000 subscribers on the service I write for can attest to this. But hear me out – my success is entirely attributable to my system. Without a system, I won't be able to constantly produce high-quality, analytical content in a short time frame. Having a system is a game changer, and you will soon understand this yourself.
By no means am I an expert (at least not yet). Nor will I teach you how to earn more money in this book. Although the secret to the latter, perhaps, is in the following formula:

Deep work principles are at the core of my system. If something resonates with you, feel free to apply it; if something does not, just ditch it. What may have worked for me may not work for you. But everyone will find something that will work for them.
This book will save you years of reading hundreds of other books and articles on this subject. It is precisely why I decided to write it in the first place.

Remember, all good things take time and discipline. There is no such thing as overnight success. You must practice a lot and be patiently disciplined before you see the results. Taking action is the key. If you deliberately practice deep work for a sustained period of time, the chances you master it increase exponentially. Start small and start now.
Besides, your brain loves consistency. It will appreciate all these routines and new habits. And trust me, it will pay off big.
